Design informed
by making.
A South Florida architecture and design practice connecting buildings with landscape, material, construction, and place.
Architect.
Fabricator.
Educator.
McMurry & Arguello is led by Florida architect Dean McMurry. The practice’s interdisciplinary perspective reflects the shared design interests of Dean and Anielka Arguello, and their ongoing dialogue around architecture, landscape, and the built environment.
Originally from Jackson, Tennessee, Dean began in the steel industry as a welder and fabricator. That experience continues to shape an approach to architecture grounded in materials, assemblies, and how things are made.
Dean holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Memphis, a Master of Architecture from Florida International University, and a Doctor of Design from FIU. His master’s work received the Master’s Project of Excellence and was featured in eVolo’s Temporal Architecture.
Alongside practice, he teaches as adjunct faculty in FIU’s School of Architecture. His work across fabrication, design, research, and teaching informs a hands-on approach to projects of different scales.

Design Lab.
Research and experimentation continue through McMurry Design Lab, exploring ecological systems, digital fabrication, and object design. The Lab gives that work a dedicated space alongside the architectural practice.
